Despite having many firsts like filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and actor Ranbir Kapoor coming together, Ranbir and Anushka forming a pair, Karan Johar making his debut as villain on-screen and Anurag’s first 100 crore venture, the much touted film BOMBAY VELVET failed to make its mark. The film that was anticipated to take Box-office by storm, bombed big time, leaving everyone shocked. Though it’s been two weeks now since the film released, people are still figuring out what went wrong with a film like BOMBAY VELVET. Meanwhile, we have listed 5 (probable) points why Anurag Kashyap’s ambitious project couldn’t spell its magic:
Dreary songs:Chartbusting numbers are a pre-requisite for any film to grab attention and make way to people’s heart. BOMBAY VELVET songs were dreary and big letdown. Perhaps, it is one of the major reasons why the film couldn’t touch the heart chords!
Over budgeted:BOMBAY VELVET was Anurag Kashyap’s first big commercial (100 crore) plus venture. Probably, the extravagant budget made it difficult for the film to even cover its cost. Thus the film was a complete wash-out.
Incomprehensible plot:While Anurag stood by his film and even defended it on social media platform, many viewers complained about the complicated and rushed plot.
Too much Delay:Too much negativity around the film, 6-months delay and too much shifting of release date only hampered the prospects of the film to weave some magic.
Unappealing first trailer:They say ‘first impression is the last impression’. But BOMBAY VELVET’s first trailer failed to entice and even received mixed reaction.
