Anurag Kashyap, recently featured in A.R.Murugadoss’ Akira starring Sonakshi Sinha which released last Friday. During the promotions, Anurag Kashyap got candid about acting, filmmaking, failures and more.
Anurag Kashyap’s passion project Bombay Velvet starring Ranbir Kapoor tanked at the box office resulting in a massive backlash from the fans. After this, Ranbir received a lot of flak for the kind of films he chose to work in. Talking about the massive destruction, Anurag opened up saying as a team, they had let Ranbir down in many ways. He called Ranbir Kapoor a fantastic artist, a brilliant human being and an actor who wanted to try out something different and experiment which not many stars would want to do. Anurag said that they failed him terribly.
When asked about his equation with Ranbir Kapoor now, Anurag Kashyap said that nothing had changed. They still talk and when they read stories about having a tiff with each other, they laugh it off. Anurag also admitted that he would love to work with Ranbir again as they have a great rapport.
When the stories come up about studios shutting down and there’s Bombay Velvet‘s poster right at the top of the article, it does hurt Anurag much. Anurag Kashyap also revealed that he had gone into depression after Bombay Velvet had bombed. There was a time when he had started feeling that the floods were because of him, the drought was because of him,the accidents here and there happening were because of him. He further added that people had attacked him and rightly so. But, he learned from his mistakes and said that he won’t ever try making a film like Bombay Velvet anymore where the production costs will become invisible. Creating Mumbai in itself meant so much money and h didn’t realize it then.
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor has his plates full with Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Anurag Basu’s Jagga Jasoos, and Ayan Mukerji’s superhero movie Dragon.
