Last year’s release Bombay Velvet that starred Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in lead roles was one of the most eagerly awaited films. But its poor performance at the box-office, not just made the film sink without a trace, but also got the film a lot of brickbats.
Now a year on we hear something that would really shock the whole of Bollywood fraternity. in fact Anurag Kashyap, alongwith his Phantom’s co-founders viz., Madhu Mantena, Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl have taken a decision of slowly returning the total production cost of Bombay Velvet to ‘Fox Star Studios’, the producers and distributors of the period film.
While Madhu Mantena refrained from commenting anything on the matter, Phantom Films’ spokesperson said that they are beginning with a sum of Rs 10 crore (of the reported Rs. 90 crores) and are hoping to repay most of the money by the year-end.
Watch this space for developments.
