Chhota Bheem Himalayan Adventure movie review

Off they go, on their horse carriage, but they are not allowed to enter Manali as outsiders have been barred since Hidambak, the dacoit, and his band of goons, have looted the village and have literally spread havoc in the neighboring villages as well.

Distraught, Bheem and his friends turn back. However, Dhiru, one of the guards in the royal army, spots their despondency and tells them that they can go and stay with his father on the other side of the hill. Here, they play to their heart’s content and even learn to ski from Dhiru’s father.

Meanwhile, Hidambak continues to wreak havoc in every village he goes to and the king summons his best skiers to put a brake on Hidambak’s activities. Dhiru leads the team but he is no match for Hidambak who sends him back with a fractured leg. It is now Bheem’s turn to pay back the kindness and he vows to capture Hidambak and bring peace to the valley. Together with Dhiru’s father and his friends they set out to capture the notorious Hidambak.

Watching Bheem on the big screen brings no big excitement. The makers could have done more with the treatment of animation. It lacks creativity. The story too is flat, with a dash of a ‘Tom and Jerry’ sequence between a rabbit and a tiger. They keep coming back to this sequence time and again!

To stretch Chhota Bheem beyond the time-frame of a TV serial and to catch the imagination of kids, this Himalayan Adventure needed to be more spiced up ‘story-wise’. Chhota Bheem takes too long to get into the groove to get to Hidambak as he is shown having fun in the valley with his friends.

Methinks, if the fun and frolic was cut short and a strategy was displayed between Bheem and is friends to nab Hidambak, it would have been more fun for the kids.

Having said that, as a one-time watch for kids would not be a bad idea.
