The cyber wing of the Mumbai police on Saturday recorded the statement of actor Kangana Ranaut while investigating the fake e-mail account case of Hrithik Roshan. Her lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui questioned the “genuineness of the entire complaint lodged by Roshan”.
The cyber police team, comprising three women police personnel and two policemen, arrived at Ranaut’s Khar apartment on Saturday evening. Although the team had sent summons to Ranaut, Siddiqui wrote to officials saying that as a woman, her statement should not be taken at the police station.

Police also recorded the statement of her sister, Rangoli. Sources said the women are witnesses in the case. Siddiqui told HT, “Police were happy with her statement as many facts have come to light. Now, the genuineness of the entire complaint has become more questionable.” Their statements were recorded for over three hours and police asked Ranaut about email exchanges on the email address ostensibly under Roshan’s name.
Roshan, in a letter to the then commissioner Rakesh Maria and the BKC cyber crime division, had alleged that a person was making contact with his friends and fans by using a fake email address. Ranaut’s name came into the picture after exchanges between her and an account, supposedly belonging to Roshan, were leaked.
