Excel Entertainment’s Zoya Akhtar directed mega star cast movie, DIL DHADAKNE DO carries huge expectations from the ever reliable composer trio, SEL to deliver the goods, just like their last outing, ZINDAGI MILEGI NA DOBARA. A quality as well as entertaining audio is expected considering the humorous and fun holiday spirit/theme of the movie.
The song that sets the tone right from the very beginning is the title track of DIL DHADAKNE DO, rendered by two top stars and by now famous singers as well, Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar. The fun holiday theme is evident in the joyous tune, free spirited singing and rock and roll arrangements. The song reminds us of SEL’s ‘Koi Kahe‘ (DIL CHAHTA HAI).
The lively rock and roll arrangements continue with ‘Pehli Baar‘ rendered well by Sukriti Kakkar and Siddharth Mahadevan and it’s certainly a fresh and a nice romantic song with superb simple lyrics by Javed Sahab.
The big happy Punjabi family celebration song, ‘Gallah Goodiyaan‘ carries forward the fun theme with Yashita Sharma, Manish Kumar Tipu, Farhan Akhtar, Shankar Mahadevan and Sukhwinder all chipping in with their exclusively styled rendition. The song will certainly translate well on the big screen with all the main leads dancing together.
The swinging fifties/ sixties comes to the fore with the retro ‘Girls Love To Swing‘ and leading the band is Sunidhi Chauhan who is simply superb in this fun, dance number and one expects Priyanka to hold fort in this all girl song.
The album ends on a sombre, soft, pensive and thoughtful mood with the semi-philosophical ‘Phir Bhi Yeh Zindagi‘ with almost the same rock n roll arrangements, bordering more on soft rock. A situational number that brings together talented singers like Farhan Akhtar, Divya Kumar, Alyssa Mendosa and Sapna Pathak, the song would add as narrative to the plot.
The audio of Zoya Akhtar’s delivers as per expectations with classy and quality songs that would be patronized by elite audience. The tracks do fit in with the theme and carry forward the story. Our picks the title track, ‘Gallah Goodiyaan‘ and ‘Phir Bhi Yeh Zindagi‘. The classy songs should ensure a good opening when the film releases all over on 5th June.
