Kaagaz Ke Fools movie review

A writer is kidnapped by Kukuji. Kukuji is this waiter, who hit jackpot and started his own gambling den. Writer babu, depressed with his wife’s antics lands up there one night, hooks up with a ‘call girl’ and then starts living in with her. Writer is so shudh that he does not even lay a finger on the ‘call girl’!

Anyways, Kukuji is upset because writer won Rs 10 lakh in a card game. And this was the first time Kukuji lost such a badi rakam. Bugger is pissed off man!

Now this writer had run away from home because his wife always taunted him that his books never got published. Moreover, he never even got a raise in salary from his office.

Writer tries his best with publishers living in rickety buildings who ask him to change the text. Obviously he refuses. So by the time he is bored with the ‘call girl’, he goes back to his wife leaving the Rs 10 lakh with the ‘call girl’, for her brother’s education. He also leaves his manuscript behind.

‘Call girl’ gets emotional; she decides to do something for the writer. She goes to the same publisher in the rickety building and agrees to change the script and also pay for publishing it. The book is a hit!

Writer is furious, wife is happy. So are his friends and extended family. Writer then gets the books recalled because you see, it was never his work.

In one scene, when he goes to see a publisher, he is told, ”begin in such a manner that the reader will not know when it has started, and end it in a manner that he (the reader) will not know when it ended.”

Same was the case with this film. It made a bloody fool of us!

Saurabh Shukla and Vinay Pathak are the actors in the film. Can you beat that?
