Our resident humorist Kapil Sharma is all set to become a movie star. His large-screen debut in Abbas-Mastan’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon is said to be a comedy of errors about one hapless man and the five women in his life.
Kapil, who is very excited about his film’s release on September 25, would face stiff competition from Madhur Bhandarkar’s Calendar Girls which releases the same day. The film has a great deal of visibility-value. The girls with striking bodies in chic bikinis are bound to attract a certain kind of crowd.
The film’s director Madhur Bhandarkar admits Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon would have a sizeable audience. “Kapil’s popularity on television cannot be denied. His stardom on television is bound to spill over on to the large screen,” says Madhur.
However, a source very close to Kapil’s film sees no competition between the two films. “Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon has no girls in bikinis, no titillation. It is a naughty comedy about a man with a roving eye. Kapil’s role in inspired by Sanjeev Kumar in B R Chopra’s Pati Patni Aur Woh. But, there is no concession to any kind of raunchy or risque content. Kapil was very clear that he would not let down his diehard family audience from television by doing anything vulgar,” says a source close to Kapil.
Not that Bhandarkar’s film is out to titillate. “There are barely 4-5 shots of girls in bikinis. It’s an emotional story of 5 girls’ journey from obscurity to fame. Ab Calendar Girls ke baare mein hai, toh bikini shot toh hogi,” says a member of Bhandarkar’s team.
