Today we see the release of Nikhil Advani’s film Katti Batti featuring Imran Khan and Kangna Ranaut. As the film hits the theatres, we bring an interesting fact about the film. Writer- Director Milap Zaveri’s younger brother Maahir Zaveri makes his debut as an editor with the film.
Bollywood Hungama spoke to Maahir to find out what it feels like from giving the first clap of Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai to assisting Nikhil Advani to editing Katti Batti. “My journey has been an experience since I spent the first six years as an assistant director being yelled at every day by Nikhil for different things. But he and the entire team were very supportive, which helped a lot”, says Maahir.
Further talking about his mentor, Maahir quickly point out that Nikhil Advani is both his mentor and godfather, “Nikhil sir has his own way of showing his appreciation be it by him yelling at me or by him patting my back. I can definitely say that he has been my mentor through this journey.”
Talking about compliments he got for his editing, Maahir Zaveri adds, “The best compliment I received was when the team of the film saw the final cut and appreciated the same saying that ‘ok he knows what he is doing’. And when the costume designer of the film, Sheetal, saw the cut and called me saying ‘you were the guy who roamed around in office wearing shorts, when did you learn this’, was the best compliment”.
As for his future plans Maahir expresses his wish to enter direction. “Whatever happens, it happens for the best, I do want to direct films, but at the same time I feel that directing film is very difficult, since you are a captain of a ship and have to master each and every thing. In that regards I have yet a lot to learn, but I am in no hurry to turn director.”
