Music giant T-Series has fast emerged as a film production house to contend with. In fact after subsequent hits like Aashiqui 2, Baby, Airlift and mid to low budget money spinners like Yaariyan and Hate Story series, we hear that the production house headed by Bhushan Kumar is set to take things to the next level with their forthcoming release Sanam Re.
Apparently, post the success of Airlift that released across 2000 odd screens across India, T-Series has been flooded with requests from distributors to follow a similar plan with Sanam Re, ensuring that the film will get a massive widespread release. While this will certainly boost the film’s overall visibility, Sanam Re, that releases this Friday will go head to head with the Hollywood anti-superhero flick Deadpool and the Katrina Kaif, Aditya Roy Kapur and Tabu starrer Fitoor.
Commenting on the same a confident Bhushan Kumar says, “Usually a romantic film sees a release across 1200 to 1400 screens; however with Sanam Re we will see a release across 2000+ screens because of the demand for it. In fact, just yesterday we were informed that advance booking for Sanam Re has started, this is usually seen for a Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan or Aamir Khan starrer but very few other films feature such positive bookings.” Further talking about the wide release Sanam Re will witness Bhushan adds, “With 2000+ screens Sanam Re will feature 7000-8000 shows across India which is really big especially for a romantic film. Besides this we have also been receiving good feedback from single screens, which is obviously good.”
Anil Aggrawal of Prateek Entertainment, who handles the distribution for T-Series corroborates Bhushan’s statement with figures saying, “Airlift released in 1800 screens, but the release of Sanam Re will be even bigger with 2000+ screens. The reason behind this is the positive feedback we have received from exhibitors across the country especially after the success of the film’s music.” Talking about the initial release plan for Sanam Re Anil adds, “Earlier we had decided to release Sanam Re across 1500 screens, and were more focused on multiplexes. However, with the demand from exhibitors and feedback from them we have decided on increasing the screen count and will also be aggressively focusing on single screens as well.”
With such positive response even before any review is out, leave alone its release, Sanam Re that is directed by Divya Khosla Kumar and features Pulkit Samrat, Yami Gautam and Urvashi Rautela is certainly something to watch out for. On the whole, coupled with a wide release, the underlying theme this Valentine’s weekend will certainly be positive for Sanam Re at the box office.
