The last book of Chetan Bhagat that was adapted, 2 States, turned out to be one of the biggest blockbusters of Bollywood. Soon after the launch of his next novel ‘Half Girlfriend’, amongst many filmmakers who wanted to pitch for the film adaptation of the same, it was Mohit Suri who joined hands with novelist Chetan for the film and decided to move forward with the love story. And now it is Sushant Singh Rajput who has finally bagged the role of the leading man.
Right after the announcement of the adaptation, the film was subjected to many speculations including the names of many actors being tossed around for the role of the leading man. Recently, rumours had it that Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt were approached for the lead roles. However denying all these speculations, filmmaker Mohit Suri maintained that it is indeed Sushant Singh Rajput who is playing one of the protagonists in Half Girlfriend. Revealing about how the actor impressed him, he stated that since Sushant is from Patna and the character in the book is also a Bihari, the actor will fit the bill perfectly.
On the other hand, the filmmaker is still hunting for an actress and mentioned that though he has spoken to Katrina Kaif about the film, there has been nothing confirmed as yet.
