Teeshay signed for movie adaptation of Knocked Up

Last week’s release The Perfect Girl garnered critical acclaim for the lead pair Teeshay Shah and Tara Alisha Berry. Impressed with his performance in the movie, author Shaiju Mathew immediately offered Teeshay to play the lead role of Sid from his 2010 novel Knocked Up.

Talking about this Teeshay says, “Yes Shaiju has offered me the lead role for the movie adaptation of Knocked Up soon after he saw the first trailer of my movie The Perfect Girl.” Teeshay further says, “I was totally surprised as I had read Knocked Up when it had released and had loved the story very much.”

Talking about his character Teeshay adds, “It is a coming-of-age story about a happy-go-lucky teenager who undergoes a huge transformation after an incident rocks his life. What he does to reclaim his lost honor to rise in love is what the story is all about. I am also excited because I get to play the part of a singer in the movie and the role is quite complex and challenging.”

Says Shaiju Mathew, “Knocked Up is very dear to me and therefore I want the best for its movie adaptation too. I had got a lot of offers from leading production houses to turn it into a movie, soon after the book was released, but I didn’t want to give the story away only because I wanted an apt actor to play the role of Sid. As destiny would have it, I saw the trailer of The Perfect Girl and loved Teeshay in it and approached him immediately.”

Talking about the film, Mathew adds, “The scripting of the movie is underway and we are also in talks with an A list director who has liked the concept. As of now, only Teeshay has been signed for the movie. Rest of the casting would be done as soon as the script is locked.”

Knocked Up is a 2010 novel which tells the story of Sid and Rebecca whose lives go topsy-turvy after an incident. How Sid fixes things and reclaims his love (Rebecca) with the help of his friends, and his passion for music is something the story is all about.
