Tere Bin Laden – Dead or Alive movie review

Osama Bin Laden is dead and the world wants proof from the US. President Obama’s CIA team zeroes in on Paddi Singh (Pradhuman Singh) a singer wanting to make it big in Bollywood who turns into a reluctant Osama for a struggling director Sharma (Manish Paul). The film is a hit and Paddi is now popular.

The only way to get proof is to re-enact the Osama Killing scene with Paddi and show the world the video as proof. The CIA too is convinced that Paddi makes a good Osama. Ofcourse, they want him dead, not alive!

TERE BIN LADEN: DEAD OR ALIVE, is Abhishek Sharma’s sequel to his 2010 movie TERE BIN LADEN. The humour is forced and the plot goes on and on and on. However, having said that, there are several LOL moments but not good enough to keep the interest alive in the 110-minute run time.

The film becomes bearable thanks to Sikander Kher and his antics as David Chaddha, a CIA agent posing as a Hollywood producer, who comes to take Osama. It’s a complete joy watching Sikander as he displays dollops of confidence, not once going overboard in his attempt to overplay the character. While the plot keeps falling apart time and again, the tempo of his performance never falters. To put it simply, he is in ‘the zone’. Mia Udeya as Junior, his colleague, complements Sikander with her act. The two hit the right notes, acting-wise, whenever they come on screen.

Some of the scenes with Obama (Imam Crosson) are also quite hilarious, but that’s just about it. The endless route to kill Osama while a film is being shot drags and actually pulls the film down.

Sugandha Garg, Piyush Mishra and Rahul Singh are the other actors who catch the eye.

There’s not much on offer here as entertainment.
