Oof Ye Garmi Ne Haal Bura Kar Diya – Tired of hearing this? Never mind, monsoon’s about to come. So let’s get ready to welcome the Rain Gods and pray that the baarish puts us all out of our misery. Speaking of monsoons, the one thing which invariably comes to the mind are our own fun filled masti bhara Bollywood gaanas filmed in the rains. Here’a a select few of our favourite playful rain songs:
1) Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958)
It’s pouring cats and dogs. The car breaks down. Out steps the gorgeous driver Madhubala, Kishore Kumar who essays the flirtatious mechanic breaks into a song. The animated bantering and playful chemistry make for a delightful watch. Madhubala as the damp diva simply takes our breath away!!!
2) Na Jaane Kahan Se Aaayi Hai, Chaalbaaz (1989)
The sight of an intoxicated Sridevi dancing with gay abandon with a street band made for a truly comic sight. The quirkiness of the situation and the super funny expressions on Sri’s face make this one a not to be missed experience. It must be mentioned here that the hero Sunny Deol joins her in the number and unintentionally adds to the giggle quotient with his “dancing skills”. Rains were never so much fun.
3) Koi Ladki Hai, Dil Toh Pagal Hai (1997)
What happens when you have the dancing diva Madhuri match steps with the bundle of energy Shah Rukh Khan to some awesomely contemporary choreography by the one and only Shiamak Davar? The result is pure magic. This number has an infectious beat and childlike energy to it.
4) Idhar Chala Main Udhar Chala, Koi Mil Gaya (2003)
Hrithik’s child like dance and innocence coupled with Preity Zinta’s effervescence and Farah Khan’s endearing choreography make this song one of the cutest rain numbers of Hindi films. Udit Narayan’s vocals add a fresh feel to the song and Rajesh Roshan’s melody complements it perfectly.
