After reigning Television through Comedy Nights With Kapil, the King of comedy, Kapil Sharma, is all set to make his Bollywood debut in Abbas-Mustan’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon. The film is all set to hit the theatres on September 25.
Kapil is not the only TV actor to try his hands at Bollywood, there are many celebs from the small screen who have either left television for making a career in Bollywood or worked in both the mediums simultaneously. Here are a few TV actors who went the Bollywood way:

Shah Rukh Khan is the biggest success story of a television actor making it big in films. From a small-time TV actor to becoming the King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh’s story inspires many actors of small screen. The actor started his career in TV series like Fauji, Circus, Doosra Keval and Wagle Ki Duniya and then made his Bollywood debut in Deewana oppsite Divya Bharti and as they say, the rest is history. There was no looking back for the actor after that.

After SRK, Vidya Balan is another actor who starter her career on small screen and became a known name in Hindi film industry. Her journey – from playing a geeky Radhika in Hum Paanch to Silk Smitha in Dirty Picture has been phenomenal.

Sushant Singh Rajput became a household name with his portrayal of Manav in Pavitra Rishta. The actor was doing very good when he decided to quit the popular daily soap and started his Bollywood journey with Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che. The actor got rave reviews for his performance in all his films – from Kai Po Che, Shuddh Desi Romance to Detective Byomkesh Bakshy. We can’t wait to watch him in the upcoming biopic of MS Dhoni.

Rajeev Khandelwal had a successful start in the world of television with Kahiin To Hoga. He became a television heartthrob and enjoyed a huge female fan following. The actor soon tried his hands at Bollywood and debuted with Aamir Khan. The film and Rajeev’s performance both were critically appreciated. He was then seen in Shaitan which was also a critically-acclaimed film. But after that Rajeev hit a bad patch with films like Soundtrack , Will You Marry Me? and Table No. 21. Rajeev made his comeback on television with Sony TV’s Reporters.

Pulkit Samrat played Lakshya Virani in Ekta Kapoor’s Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. He made his Bollywood debut with Bittoo Boss and then did films like Fukrey, Dolly Ki Doli and Bangistan. Pulkit will be seen in Sanam Re opposite Yami Gautam.

Aamna Sharif began her television career with Ekta Kapoor’s Kahiin To Hoga opposite Rajeev Khandelwal and soon became a household name as Kashish. She made her Bollywood debut with Aloo Chaat opposite Aftab Shivdasani but the film was a dud at the box office. Aamna then made a comeback to television with the show Honge Judaa Na Hum. She also played a small role in Ek Villain.

Anita Hassanandani worked on TV shows like Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii, Kavyanjali and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Her close friend Ekta Kapoor gave her a break in Bollywood with the 2003 thriller Kucch To Hai. The film failed at the Box Office. She worked in films like Yeh Dil, Koi Aap Sa, Just Married but her Bollywood career never really took off. She’s currently doing Star Plus’ popular show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and Comedy Nights Bachao on Colors.

Ayushmann Khurrana started his television career as a VJ after winning MTV Roadies season 2. His debut film Vicky Donor was a big hit. He failed to win the viewers in Bewakoofiyaan and Hawaizaada but again tasted success with Yash Raj Films’ Dum Laga Ke Haisha opposite Bhumi Pednekar.

Surveen played Charu in Kahiin To Hoga and Kasak in Kasautii Zindagii Kay. She made her Bollywood debut in Hate Story 2. The actor went all out to make sure her film debut grabs maximum eyeballs. From donning a bikini to steamy scenes with Jay Bhanushali, Surveen did it all.

Gurmeet shot to fame as Lord Rama in NDTV Imagine’s Ramayan. He then did popular soaps like Geet – Hui Sabse Parayi and Punar Vivah. He was also the winner of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 5 and a runner up of Nach Baliye 6. He got a break in Bollywood by Vishesh Films in supernatural horror Khamoshiyan. The film did well at the box office. There are reports that Gurmeet will soon be soon on small screen in a show titled Swadhinta.

Jay Bhanushali never quit TV for big screen and did films along with working on small screen. He made his Bollywood debut in Hate Story 2 and then did Desi Kattey and Ek Paheli Leela. Jay became popular after he played the role of Neev Shergill in daily soap Kayamath. He is currently hosting Dance India Dance season 5.

Amit Sadh became popular as Aditya from Kyun Hota Hai Pyarrr and also did reality show Bigg Boss. Sadh made his film debut in Kai Po Che and got rave reviews for his role in the film. He also did Guddu Rangeela film which was a flop.

Prachi was known for her role as Bani in Kasamh Se. She left the serial when she was offered a role in Rock On. She did movies like Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Bol Bachchan and I, Me Aur Main. She will soon be seen in Rock On 2 and Azhar.
