Vir Das, who was on a comedy tour in U.S, had a chance to meet some real life victims of the 1984 riots. Readers may be aware that Vir will be playing the leading man in an upcoming film titled 31 October which is based on the same incident.
During one of his shows in the U.S, Vir met a boy who was related to the riot victims. The actor, who has experienced the agony of the incident whilst shooting for the film, decided to pay a visit to the family and took some time out from his work commitments for the same. Vir who was extremely glad to meet them not only had a warm conversation with them but also shared his experience of shooting for the film.
Talking about the incident, Vir said, “While in Vancouver for a show I was approached by a guy who came to me to talk about my upcoming film 31 October, he told me about his grandfather who had witnessed the incident of 31st October back in 1984 and wanted me to meet them. I was apprehensive at first because I understand it would be difficult time for them back then and recalling the scenario would be tougher. However, after meeting them I was elated that they have overcome the obstacle and they were glad to know that a film is being made on the incident. It’s beyond our understanding what these people would’ve gone through.”
