Stand-up comedian, musician and actor, the multi-talented Vir Das faced a dilemma of sorts recently when his gigs were planned in the midst of his movie promotions. Recently the trailer of 31st October was launched and the presence of Vir who plays the lead in it was a must. While yet another gig was planned during the same time, Vir decided to give it a skip much to the disappointment of the organizers.
Vir Das was supposed to fly to the UK for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for a gig but he did not show up for the same leaving the organizers miffed. The actor had apparently returned to India to abide by the film contract, to promote his forthcoming film on anti-Sikh riots (31st October). In fact, it had been learnt that the cancellation was last minute despite the fact that the tickets for the gig were all sold out and the organizers had to refund the same owing to the confusion. On the other hand, it is being said that the team of Vir Das is making necessary amends whilst the organizers, we hear, are currently discussing about another gig with the actor.
Revealing details on the incident, Vir Das who agreed to the fact that his last minute cancellation would have come across as unprofessional also added that he had to do it owing to the fact that the film was his priority. Also, his film 31st October was caught with the Censors for quite some time because of the controversial topic since it deals with the aftermath of Indira Gandhi’s assassination. Hence the release date of the film was suddenly decided to be October 7 because of which the actor had to rush back to the country to kick start the promotions. However, he also assured that his team is in touch with the organizers to arrange for an alternate gig.
