Why All Is Well is a crucial film for Asin

After a spectacular start with Aamir Khan in Ghajini, Asin seems to have disappeared from world-view.

What happened to this promising sprightly South Indian beauty who was so much in demand after her debut in the year 2008 when she swept all the awards right from under the nose of the other debutante of the year Anushka Sharma?

In fact Anushka had expressed her disappointment at being so completely usurped at the awards by Asin.

Today the two actresses are in reversed positions with Asin facing extinction from Bollywood while Anushka has raced to the top.

According to a major producer, “It’s all karma catching up with her. Asin had it all, the looks and the talent. She squandered it all with her high-handed attitude. She rejected plum assignments with the biggest of the production houses to do big-budgeted films with top heroes. Those films did nothing to her career. When she said no to Mukesh Bhatt, he prophesied she won’t last long. Sadly Mr. Bhatt’s words seem to have come true.”

Another source, a co-star and former close friend blames Asin’s father. “He controls every aspect of her life, personal and professional. Or, at least he used to. I now hear she’s not so dependent on him anymore. But the damage is done.”

There is hope, though. And it’s in the form of Umesh Shukla’s All Is Well where she’s cast opposite Abhishek Bachchan who last played her brother in Rohit Shetty’s Bol Bachchan.

Umesh thinks Asin will “definitely” make a comeback in All Is Well. “She is a brilliant actress. Very expressive. She deserves success. I loved her work in Ghajini and many of her South Indian films. No one can stop talent.”
